How do I choose the correct shade of foundation?
If you are finding it difficult to find the right shade then it is easy to adjust our loose mineral foundation colours by mixing in a shade lighter or darker, to do this you can purchase our mini sized jars and mix them together to reach your desired shade. For example, if the colour you have purchased is too light, choose a darker shade with the same undertone. If the base is too yellow, choose a pink base as the mixer. Try a small amount in a dish first to get the right proportions. To mix the powders well, use a clean spatula or stirrer. Then stir well and mix. Try the new shade on your cheek, it should blend in and disappear or come close to looking like your skin tone. If not, go back to mixing in a small amount of the shade until you reach perfection.
How do I apply my foundation correctly?
Start with a clean, dry face and make sure that any moisturiser that you use is absorbed into the skin before you apply our foundation, this gives you a clean, clear base to build up from. If your moisturiser isn't absorbed, the minerals will clump and spread unevenly. Ensure that the powder is in the lower part of pot (if not then just tap the bottom of the jar onto a hard surface until all the powder disappears through the sifter into the bottom of the jar). Use your index finger to tap a small amount into the lid, dab onto brush, tapping off excess powder back into lid and apply to face using light, downward strokes so that the fine hairs on your skin lay flat. You may keep adding layers of foundation until you've reached your desired coverage. Please note that our synthetic cosmetic brushes are made especially for the application of our loose mineral cosmetics, if you use any other brush the results may not be as good If you need to conceal any blemishes, use a smaller concealer brush and apply the foundation onto that area. Be sure to blend out the edges If you prefer liquid foundation, simply add a dab of water to the foundation in the lid and mix well until you've reached your desired consistency. If you have dry skin, try mixing in a dab of moisturiser instead of water.
How do I look after my Makeup Brushes?
One of the best ways to ensure that your makeup brushes stay soft and last is to clean them regularly. Clean them when they are first purchased and clean them on a regular basis to remove old makeup, dirt & debris, bacteria, oils and dead skin cells as these will make your brushes feel scratchy and may irritate sensitive skin. Ideally you should clean your brushes according to their use, please see list below: Foundation Brushes - minimum of once a week Brushes used for setting powders, bronzers and blush - once a week Eye shadow Brushes - every 2-3 days Eyeliner Brushes - ideally after every use For those that suffer with acne, you will greatly benefit from keeping your foundation brushes clean at all times. To cut down on cleaning time, rotate brushes so you always have a fresh clean one to use.
